As above, the sound is also really good. However, it's much more of a Rogue Legacy type experience than I was expecting. The presentation is great and the graphic design is brilliant in it's homage to 2000AD. My final opinion is somewhere in the middle of my previous I think.
#Void bastards biscuit series
You can get stuck in series of ships that dont really have anything you need (no fuel or food), or in situations where you are screwed by pirates or whales no matter what you do (at least with the whale its a bit unpredictable to say which way they move next turn) but this has happened just a handful of times.Īlso loving the dynamic soundtrack as it changes with the gameplay from sweet relaxing space electronica (or whatsitcalled) to barb wire punk rock, and nice touches like the pings that play in tune with the background music when you move the ship around on the galaxy map.
I think Im around 2/3s through with a couple of main missions left and so far it has been a decent challenge without ever feeling unfair, its usually my own ineptness at using the tools and surroundings at hand that kills me and the game holds up really well in more frantic scenes with the fireworks of a bunch of citizens and secbots going off at the same time. Up to nebula depth 4 and around 300 days, and its getting pretty tough with some of the citizens that start to appear on the ships. Ive been having a great time with this, after coming in with no expectations at all other than reading the Polygon review (a Recommended). Like it or not.Īnd Blue Manchu is a Canberra based indie studio, hardly anything lost in translation if you were insinuating that the developers of this title as well are not speaking native English? The first association I made with the title was with Tarantino´s Inglorious Basterds, and one of the achievements refer to Boyle´s Trainspotting. The game wears its punk rock aestethics pretty much on its sleeve. Its perfectly fine to have one opinion - until you have anotherīut I dont think there is any trend for using the word ´bastard´ in game titles, really? Thats a bit of a stretch.
